Do you struggle to be on time?

Do you subconsciously play a game to see how close to an appointment you can make it?

Do you know someone who does?

Simon Coronel, deservedly crowned World Champion of Magic and double “fooler” on the Penn and Teller show, shared how he cured his chronic tardiness. He explained his solution on the unmissable podcast* of Tim Ferriss, the brilliant best-selling author of “The 4 Hour Work Week.”

Here is the secret to timeliness:

1. Simon Coronel finds a coffee shop with wifi, close to where he needs to be. That’s easy at an airport. A bit more research is required if he has an appointment somewhere else.

2. He arrives there 1-2 hours before his appointment. During that time, he can read a book, work on a project, relax, meditate, brainstorm, or write.

3. He sets an alarm 10 minutes before the actual appointment, and casually walks there. He magically arrives on time, feeling like a champion of punctuality.

That’s it.

It’s a triple win every time: he arrives 1. on time, 2. stress-free, and 3. happy with his efficiency.

The genius behind this simple tip is that the 1-2 hours spent at the coffee shop are highly productive. There are no distractions because nobody knows he’s there.

That makes for a stress-free trip to the airport or any other appointment.

You might try this tip, even if you are a master of timeliness, if only to increase your productivity.
